Small Bites is our newest virtual training series delivering relevant and valuable tools on the implementation of small-scale development. Sessions will range from an hour to an hour and a half in length. Led by our diverse faculty, they’ll offer expertise drawn from real-life experiences. These sessions are for people of all skill levels, from small-scale developers and local advocates, to policymakers. An opportunity to ask questions is included at the end of each secession. What Small-Scale Development Advocates Need to Understand About a Developer’s Project Development Budget
Incremental developers develop buildings and are intimately familiar with pro formas (the term for a project development budget). Knowing the basics of pro formas can make you, as local government staff, elected officials, or community advocates, much more effective development champions. It is also essential for overcoming barriers to the kinds of small-scale development projects your community needs.

Jenifer Acosta is a solutions-minded incremental developer known for redeveloping historic buildings and extensive work driving property and downtown revitalization. With a heart for saving underutilized relics, she bridges old and new, building (and over rebuilding) dynamic communities that evoke a strong sense of place. Jenifer also is a real estate broker, restaurant owner, and consultant on housing, recovery & resilience, and working in smaller markets. She founded Acosta Real Estate & Development headquartered in Bay City, MI and has developed over $30 million in historic building renovations and downtown redevelopment.
