The Small Bites Series: Statewide ADU Reforms

Introducing, Small Bites.

Small Bites is our newest virtual training series delivering relevant and valuable tools on the implementation of small-scale development. Sessions will range from an hour to an hour and a half in length. Led by our diverse faculty, they’ll offer expertise drawn from real-life experiences. These sessions are for people of all skill levels, from small-scale developers and local advocates, to policymakers. An opportunity to ask questions is included at the end of each secession. Check out our small bites below!

Statewide ADU Reforms

As the housing crisis grows, state governments are stepping in to overrule local efforts to obstruct housing. That process, known as ‘state-preemption’, is now seen in state houses around the country. It often starts with Accessory Dwellings (ADUs) and single-family zoning, but can also focus on parking mandates, lot splits, and building code reforms. We will look at the earliest ADU reforms and consider what this means for reform legislation moving forward.

There are no prerequisites to attend this session.

60 min presentation. 30 min Q & A
